About the Role:

As a Public Assistance Clerical Specialist, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting interactive interviews with clients to determine or re-determine eligibility for public assistance programs, including OWF, Medicaid, and Food Stamps.
- Managing a caseload through the OBWP system, including telephone calls and client interviews.
- Referring clients to other agency units as appropriate (e.g., Social Services, STEPS).
- Maintaining accurate case data through OBWP and other systems.
- Completing all necessary forms and documentation to maintain caseloads, including referrals for overpayments and under issuances.
- Providing quality customer service and ensuring all client cases are up-to-date.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- Ensuring regular, predictable attendance as an essential function of the position.
Salary and Benefits
- pay: $20.74 per hour.
- Up to $0.75/hour increase after probation.
- Additional $0.50/hour with an Associate's degree.
- Additional $1.00/hour with a Bachelor's degree.
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (37.5 hours per week) with a paid lunch break.

Candidate Requirements
- A genuine passion for helping others.
- Education or experience in the following:
- Behavioral science, social science, or customer service techniques (one course or six months).
- Business mathematics (one course or six months).
- Business English (one course or six months).
- Interviewing techniques (one course or six months).
- Typing, keyboarding, or word processing (one course or six months).
- Ability to problem-solve and handle challenges with confidence.
- Commitment to regular, predictable attendance.
